Good Omens

A last-minute change in plans two weeks before Gen Con prompted us to scrap our intended competition set. Good Omens had just been released, so we decided to jump on the bandwagon!

Though the costumes are based on street clothes and include some modified commercial garments, there are several handmade pieces, including Crowley’s snake belt buckle (sculpted and cast in resin), hand-painted snakeskin belt and shoes, scarf and tassels, necklace and waistcoat, and Azirphale’s tartan bow tie.

The showpiece of this set is of course the ride-in Flaming Bentley, which Alena built in her living room in the two weeks before the con out of (among other things) a wheelchair and four aluminum walkers. It’s battery-powered and completely modular, and features lighted fan-driven flames along the hood and roof and twinkling lights in the sidewalls that are backed with holographic foil flames. We had great fun driving it around the convention and downtown Indianapolis, blaring Queen tunes from the Bluetooth speaker mounted under the hood.
