Mark’s Link costume features decorative stitching, embossed leatherwork, vinyl-and-carved-foam sword, and a shield made of layered sheet and vacuformed styrene over foam. (Our first foray into vacuforming!)
Alena’s Zelda costume includes a hand-embroidered skirt, appliqued satin pallium, hand-sculpted thermoplastic armor and jewelry, painted crystals, and a hand-ventilated lacefront wig. The costume also features hidden pockets for wallet and mobile phone.
The Zelda dress was made for the Danielle Roelandt memorial presentation at Anime Central 2017, in which each participant dressed as a character that Dani had cosplayed. Dani had been working on her own Zelda costume the last time she had visited Alena, so it was an extra special project. The white characters around Alena’s overdress include the phrase “In Memoriam Danielle” as a dedication.
